Wines of Argentina - The Organic Symphony Series

The wines in the Symphony Series are all produced under strict 100% Organic guidelines in the provice of Mendoza, Argentina. As Marquee Selections remains committed to green, organic and sustainable winemaking practices we are excited to be featuring these wines as clean, crisp and delicious representations of organic agriculture. In the symphony to play a piece of music in the style of Grazioso is to play so gracefully, with elegance to touch upon the highlights yet not push forward with a bravado of sound (much the same as our namesake wine Grazioso and its siblings, Pianissimo - to play music in a growingly softer decrescendo and Staccato - to play music in bright, vibrant notes)! These organic wines epitomize the dedication to producing high quality products in the vineyard and sheparding them forward through the winemaking process to each bottle and glass! Many thanks to our partners and winemakers at Caligiore Ecological Wines and VinEcol SA for their help in making these wines a true success!

The Caligiore family bought the 17-acre Finca La Marolina in Mendoza's Lujan de Cuyo district in 1969. This vineyard had been planted to Malbec since 1930, but the family sold off its grape production to other area vintners (these grapes before were destined for some outstanding bottlings - such as Susana Balbo's top end Malbec) until third generation Gustavo Caligiore took the reins in 2001. In 2000 the family added the 35 acre Finca Cayanta vineyard and established a new organic winery and winemaking practice in all of its holdings. In 2007 a new larger winery was produced for Caligiore Ecological Vineyards and Gustavo Caligiore has taken on the role of Chief Winemaker and CEO (along with another 20 hats as well... but, you get the picture). From Bonarda to Malbec or Syrah, each wine shows an expression of the terrior from which it comes and the words we live by at Caligiore are "The soul of the land turns into wine!"

For the red wines the first two selections from Marqueee are from the Duoro river region (north close to where the city of Porto the capital of port production lies) and just outside the capital of Portugal Lisbon in a new region that once was called Estremadura but now goes by the name Lisboa!

Wines of USA - California - Classy from Lake County, CA

  • Classy Sauvignon Blanc Fruity and luscious Sav. Blanc with notes of passion fruit, BEST BUY 87 Pts WE - Wine Enthusiast
  • Classy Red Zinfandel Zinfandel, a great BBQ wine with lots of spice and zip! This spicy red has some rose petal and foral notes with its rich berry base!

Marquee selected two classic varietals to start our Lake County Classy series of wines with; Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel. With vineyard locations that are very near to the largest "natural lake" wholly within the state of California, Clear Lake, the lake has a moderating effect on the climate and vineyards range from alluvial soils near the dormant volcano Mount Konocti to more moderate elevations around 2000 ft. above sea level. This allowance for warm days and nighttime temperatures that drop significantly allow the grapes to ripen at optimum rates for moderate sugars and sufficient acidity (hallmarks to great Sav. Blanc and Zinfandel). From our sophisticated and fashionable labeling, to our modern "jet black" stelvin screw caps on Classy, you can be sure that the juice inside is fit to match with your next stylish occasion!
